Things we hate

Insurances: a parasite with little to no redeeming features. Unfortunately, some clients have decided that all staff must have PI/PL insurance which is sensible for Consultants directing a client on how to proceed but logically not required for a contractor doing what they are told by the client.
WorkCover: Just get it. For most IT people its under $200 for the year. And it has this interesting section that covers you for your “normal route home…” even if you normally go via the pub. It also covers for stuff that has happened while contracting to many different clients, which is better than trying to get them to pay on insurance for a single role.
